Annie Lennox, born 25th December 1954 in Aberdeen Scotland. Dorothy Farquharson and Thomas Allison Lennox are her parents. Lennox attended her studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London in the 1970s. She took a course in harpsichord and flautist piano over 3 years. Lennox lived on a student allowance and took on part-time employment to augment her funds. When she was at the Royal Academy Lennox was dissatisfied by her performance in comparison to her fellow students and she pondered what alternative direction she would take.
